Gangsters Around Car

pen and ink on acetate, 1963, signed R. Crumb 1963 lower right.  14 x 16"   Many of these figures later appeared in the The Yum-Yum Book (published in 1974) as well as may other Crumb publications.

Crumb created this work while he lived in Cleveland and worked at American Greetings under the supervision of Tom Wilson (creator of Ziggy).  Robert became friends with one of his fellow artists and gifted him the work.  Interestingly, our gallery is located in the old American Greetings building where the work was created.
