Rachel Davis Fine Arts offers various methods to buy art of your interests including sale through our gallery, private sale, or auction.
For sale through our gallery or private sale, please provide us with your wish list.
Buying at auctions at Rachel Davis Fine Arts is simple. Generally these steps can be followed:

Pick Up or Ship Your Purchases.
Find Your Items by Browsing catalogs and Previewing:
Printed Catalogs – Printed catalogs are published prior to each auction. Catalogs contain descriptions of items offered, their assigned lot numbers, dimensions, estimated values and selected photos, along with full sale information including preview hours and conditions of sale. Printed catalogs may be ordered by phone.
Online Catalogs – Catalogs are also available online at free of charge. Online catalogs contain descriptions of items offered, their assigned lot numbers, dimensions, estimated values and several photos for each lot, along with full sale information including preview hours, conditions of sale and more. Please click on 'Auctions' from the main menu.
Gallery Preview – The best way to learn what you may be purchasing is to preview and inspect items in person. We typically offer several days of preview to accommodate our clients to preview, inspect, ask questions, register and/or arrange proxy bidding.
Register and Bid:
Rachel Davis Fine Arts offers various methods to participate in auction.
Bidding in Person – Register in person at the gallery office to obtain a paddle, and join the excitement of live auction action on the floor. A valid photo identification is required. There is no cost to register.
Proxy Bidding (Absentee or Phone Bidding) – If you can not attend our auctions in person, proxy bidding may be arranged. You can leave your information with maximum bid amount you are willing to go up to. Then our auction staff will bid up to the amount on your behalf at auction. For phone bidding, prior to the auction you will leave a phone number we can reach you at the time of auction. Then our auction staff will call you a few lots before your lots come up for you to bid live. Our auction staff will be your agent on the auction floor. Please complete a Proxy Bid Form to arrange your proxy bid(s). A valid credit card (Visa, Master Card or Discover) is required to register for proxy bids.
Internet Bidding (Absentee or Live Bidding) – This will allow you to be anywhere with an internet connection, whether at comfort of your home or at a hotel overseas during your business travel. After creating your user account and registering at our auction, you are ready to either leave absentee bids or participate live on the day of auction.

Hammer Price, Buyer’s Premium and Sales Tax:
Hammer Price – is the winning bid amount finalized on the auction floor by the auctioneer.
Buyer’s Premium – is applied to all hammer prices: 23% for all bids placed through our gallery directly (for in gallery bidders and proxy bidders); up to 28% for all bids placed through internet.
Ohio Sales Tax – sales tax of 8% is due for all items purchased or picked up at our gallery, and for all Ohio residents. Buyers holding a state issued resale certificate are exempt, but proper forms must be completed and filed with Rachel Davis Fine Arts, at the time of registration.
If you are a successful bidder at the gallery, payment may be made in person immediately then items can be picked up. Otherwise, after the entire auction is completed, invoices are generated and mailed to all successful bidders by email or US Postal Services. Invoice will have detail lot titles, hammer prices, buyer’s premium, if applicable, sale tax and shipping and handling cost. Accepted methods of payment are Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Check, Money Order, Cash (in person only), Bank Wire Transfer is available with additional handling fee.
Pick Up or Ship Purchases:
Once full payment is made, items may be released for pick up or shipping. Buyers are welcome to arrange shipping with any third party packing and shipping business. Rachel Davis Fine Arts can arrange in-house shipping and handling services for limited smaller items. If any items require special handling due to extraordinary nature/material, size, weight, value or any other factors determined to be outside our capabilities, we recommend third party packing and shipping businesses.
