5 Tektites and 1 Shattercone.
Certificates of authenticity for 4 of the items from Bethany Sciences.
Tektites are formed when a huge meteor collides with the earth wish such force that melted rock fragments are thrown at high speeds into the upper atmosphere. Here they cool and harden, preserving their splashed, melted shape. Indochinites are jet black and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some show aerodynamic ablation indicating high velocity flights through the earth's atmosphere.
Shattercone- The Sudbury impact structure is nearly 200 kilometers in diameter. Shattercones illustrate the enormous impact of a meteorite. They are formed when strong shock waves pass through certain types of rock and produce weakened zones radiating out form the direction of the shock, resulting in ridged cone-shaped rock fragments. The discovery of shattercones in the 1960s provided clues about the meteoritic origins of land formations around the world.
