Temne People (?), Sierra Leone- Standing female figure- wood. The ridges on the neck are evocative of the better known Sande Society masks from the region, where they reference the ripples on the water where the tutelary spirit emerges. The pointed chin and lightly incised eyes and mouth on the mother and child are common traits of Temne sculpture. Damage (repaired) to right foot. 17 1/2''
