Pair of French Mahogany Regency style marble top commodes- sides and fronts in-laid in brass stringing and decorated with carved ormolu encadrements, the chamfered corners ornamented with ormolu mounts depicting masks and acanthus leaves, the lower ends of the chamfered corners extend out and have ormolu medallions. The center of the doors have mounted ormolu frames cresting with a bow-knot tie and encasing porcelain plaques with grisaille paintings of Classical Greek figures. Finely finished interiors. Interior of doors faced with satin-wood and rose-wood cross banding and green tinted wood stringing signed Diehl Paris 19 Rue Michel de Comte. some loss and damage to brass stringing. 45 x 34 x 19 3/4''
