This version is without the pine tree (chicot) at the right. Patricia Emison in Print Quarterly I, 1984, pp. 257-67, for the controversy over the priority of the two versions of this engraving. Her argument that the version without the fir tree is Marcantonio;s original is widely accepted. She also suggests that the version the fir tree is a copy by Agostino Veneziano; this is less certain.
