Bidding Advice
Absentee and Telephone Bidding Advice:
RND, Inc. is pleased to accept absentee and telephone bids as a courtesy to bidders who cannot attend the sale or who do not wish to be identified as bidders. All bids will be held in strict confidence.
RND, Inc. will not accept absentee bids under the amount of $25.00 or a request for telephone bidding for lots with a pre-sale estimate less than $100.00.
RND, Inc. will not be held responsible for failing to execute any absentee or telephone bid. While every precaution is taken, oversights and mistakes can occur due to the volume of bids left for each auction.
All successful bids are subject to the 15% Buyer’s Premium and any taxes or additional charges for packing and shipping that may apply.
RND, Inc. will execute bids in a competitive manner and will bid on your behalf as if you were in attendance. Example: If a bid in left for $300.00 on a particular item and the last bid on the floor is $200.00, we will bid $210.00 on your behalf.
However, the bidding may fall to another bidder at your stated limit. In this instance, your bid would be unsuccessful. Example: If a bid is left for $300.00 and the staff bids on your behalf up to $290.00, the next bid would be $300.00 to the other bidder. The next bid from the auctioneer will be for $325.00, but because of your limit the lot would be awarded to the other bidder. The solution to this situation would be to bid $300.00 + 1. This will enable the staff to bid one increment past your stated limit.
It is important to take auction increments under consideration when placing your bids. Example: If a bid is left for $310.00, the auctioneer will only look for bids at $300.00 and $325.00 and should the bid fall to you at $325.00, the staff will not be able to bid and you will lose the item. The solution would be, in addition to bidding according to the increments, to also bid "+1" ($300.00 +1)
Auction increments have been established by the auctioneer and RND, Inc. in order to standardize the bidding and eliminate minimal advances and perceptions of favoritism that may occur.
